The explosion-proof fail-safe electric actuator controls ball valves and butterfly valves in areas with a risk of ignition. In addition, it includes a return spring that automatically closes the valve if power is cut. Therefore, it is the safest solution for processes involving gases, vapors, and dusts that can ignite.

What does the explosion-proof fail-safe electric actuator do?

This actuator prevents an internal spark from igniting the work area. To achieve this, its aluminum casing seals the internal parts and blocks the entry of gases and particles. This allows it to operate safely in On-Off or Modulating mode. It also offers torques from 50 to 260 Nm for valves of various sizes.

When there is a power loss, the internal spring acts immediately. In this way, the valve moves to the safe closed position without the need for an electrical signal. Therefore, the process remains protected even if the power supply fails.

Marked according to standard II 2 GD Ex db IIB T4 Gb, Ex db h IIB T4 Gb, Ex tb IIIC T130°C Db, Ex tb h IIIC T130°C Db where it is classified as Zone 1 or Zone 2, containing Group IIA and Group IIB gases, Zone 21 or Zone 22, containing combustible dust atmospheres or a mixture of explosive gas atmospheres and combustible dust atmospheres. It is suitable for temperature classes T1 to T4.

Applications of the explosion-proof fail-safe electric actuator

We use it in areas where an electrical failure can cause a serious accident. Below are its main uses:

Chemical plants: Controls the flow of hazardous fluids. It also automatically closes the valve in case of a failure, preventing spills or explosions.

Oil refineries: For handling valves in processes with oil and other easily ignitable materials. Therefore, it ensures safe closure in the event of any failure.

Natural gas plants: Allows for quick valve closure in case of a leak or fire. This protects both the facilities and personnel.

Ventilation systems: Ensures that outlet valves close if power is lost. This prevents hazardous gases from accumulating in the work area.

Power generation: Controls the flow of fuel in power plants. It also responds safely to any system failure.

Mining: Handles materials that can ignite during extraction and processing. Therefore, it reduces the risk of explosions in enclosed work areas.
